Loutraki Grand Prix is the second International Backgammon Championship held in Greece.
With a second year €10.000 added prize for the winners and the best Tournament Director in the world, we hope to create a big annual event that combines high quality tournament set up, with a great traveling experience in a wonderful destination

Route

Loutraki is a seaside resort on the Gulf of Corinth, Greece. It is located 80km west of Athens, next to the magnificent Ancient Corinth and the Great Canal of Isthmos. Epidaurus with the famous ancient theatre is located a few miles south. The town is known for its vast natural springs and its therapeutic spas.
There are many tourists who visit Loutraki every year because of its crystal clear sea and the vibrant nightlife with numerous seaside bars and clubs.
Average temperature is 24°C day and 14°C night times during late April.
Elefterios Venizelos International Airport gets daily flights almost from every European country and is located 108 km distance -1 hour drive- from tournament venue.

Organizer & Director

Arda Findikoglu is one of the most prestigious names in the world of backgammon with his successfully completed more than 300 events national and international scale in his 23 years of career. Organizing and running more than 14 events every year, today, Arda Findikoglu is the head director of the most prestigious event of backgammon world, World Backgammon Championship which is held in Monte Carlo every year. He is also a board member of WBGF, World Backgammon Federation, which is the most well-respected backgammon association of the world last 4 years.

Stefanos Charaklias is the founder and chairman of Mind Sports Club of Cholargos since 2014 During these years his club has hosted and organized most of the big Backgammon events of Greece. The club is also active in the fields of Chess and Bridge. Since 2021 he is the president of the Greek Backgammon Federation.

* The organization reserves the right to change the programme in any of its parts. Changes will be announced in advance and posted on the Notice Board.

Important Notes

  • The Tournament Director reserves the right to require the use of clocks in any round of any category.
  • The draw is manual (not computerized), public and random.
  • Tournament matches take precedence over all other forms of play.
  • Only cash payments are accepted.
  • The Tournament Committee reserves the right of refuse applications to play without giving any reasons, since the event is by Mind Sports Club of Cholargos invitation only.
  • The daily break for dinner is between 19:00 and 20:30.
  • Should a player wish to leave the playing area during the tournament, he/she must inform the Tournament Director. Failure to do so may result with penalty points being assigned.
  • Smoking is not permitted in the event venue other than in designated areas.
  • The Tournament Director reserves the right to request from any participant showing flu like symptoms either to wear a mask at all times in playing hall and/or to bring a negative PCR test result and/or to go into self isolation.
  • The tournament will be played on professional Tournament Boards. Our boards are regularly cleaned and disinfected at the end of each day.
    Dice service is provided by organization.
  • All players are expected to be dressed appropriately.
